It's been a few months since the Shatterverse incident ended. Nine has been working in the Grim, trying to create a life for himself, but he can't let go of what happened, who left, and all the what-ifs attached. Cue a mysterious invitation to a racing competition in Sonic's world. How can he possibly resist?
Unfortunately, the opportunity quickly becomes something out of a nightmare. Distraught, Nine flees the races, abandoning everything he's been chasing. But getting trapped in a world where the rain boils was not where he expected to appear. Forced to adapt, Nine starts making allies - and perhaps family - in a universe he should never have been in.
And something starts to change.
Maybe because, unknowingly, he's forging a story that shouldn't have existed.
OR: Nine joins Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, finds out a painful truth, and escapes to the Boiling Isles. Sonic and his friends find out too late and try to rescue him, while facing dangers and secrets. And a new, dangerous and more twisted story is forged...
