Summary
Tim had come pleading at Damian’s door, promising that they could still hang out like it could possibly be the same. He’d lectured him; ‘the world is so much bigger than the Batcave, Damian,’ he had said, like Damian hadn’t come from that world, saturated in blood and anger. Tim would never understand how hard Damian had fought for this life, and how desperately he did not want that to change.
Damian had thrown the letter in the trash. He’d curled up on his bed, ignoring the knocks of both Tim and Father. Damian just laid there, motionless, gripping his cell phone tightly in his hand.
Dick wouldn’t understand, Todd wouldn’t understand, Cassandra, Duke, and Barbara wouldn’t understand.
But there was Stephanie.

Summary
Her costume was the wrong shade. The red was too bright, which was truly saying something. The fabric looked like it could’ve been cut from old t-shirts. It wouldn’t hold up in a catfight. She didn’t even have any gloves. But she had stood there like she had stood there a hundred times before. She had looked him right in the eyes, something many of the GCPD still avoided at all costs.
And she saw the fourth man. The man that he missed.
