Summary

Summary
Erwin Smith can't seem to get the Survey Corps' new recruit from the Underground out of his head. Levi finds himself saving the life of the man he'd tried to kill just a few days prior. The two vastly different men find common ground and establish a tentative relationship while navigating challenges from inside and outside the Walls. Erwin's political ambitions and Levi's emerging illness cast shadows, but the pair find hope in one another through it all.
This story begins between A Choice with No Regrets OVA and canon anime events and focuses mainly on Erwin and Levi's relationship. Mostly compliant with the canon timeline and incorporates major events as the story progresses.

The faint glint in Eren’s eye calmed Levi’s flare of indignant anger. “Just… let me…” Eren slid his hand down over Levi’s parted lips, gently brushing them with his fingertips. Levi felt the shudder in his spine just as Eren replaced those fingers with a kiss so tender, he nearly missed it. Just a brief touch of the lips, but Levi felt it far deeper than the surface of his skin. It crawled down inside his chest, settling into his belly and replacing that strange, gnawing feeling with something far greater, and much more unsettling.
After he bid Eren a good night for the second time and closed the door behind him, he leaned against the old, pitted wood and closed his eyes against the vacuous space of his quarters. His own fingers traced the lingering sensation of Eren’s lips against his as the realization struck him.
This man will destroy me.
