Soap’s first meeting with Formula 1 was at Silverstone at the sweet age of twelve years old. Watching the Formula 1 cars whizz passed them was something Soap would never forget.
But the thing that had been ingrained in his young mind was not the race itself, not the driver’s whizzing past or the car's designs, no, it was from a big screen along the track for when the cars were driving in a different sector. His eyes were glued to the image as the image changed to a pit stop, showing the synchronised team ripping off the tyres and sticking on new ones, how the team’s flowed like water around the car in a matter of seconds before it shot out of Pit Lane again.
Soap had turned to his father, massive blue eyes crinkling with determination as he said “I am going to be a Formula 1 mechanic!”
Dreams became reality as he stepped into the garage during F1 2023 season years later, throwing him into the whirlwind of motorsports in the Red Bull pit crew. Not knowing this season wouldn’t only bring him his desire to be a mechanic but also bring him closer to the lead driver of the team, Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley, who was competing for the 2023 championship.

The paper crinkled when he dragged it out from where he had stuffed it into his backpack, already ripped in the corners and scuffed from the harsh treatment when he ran to the gate earlier. He skimmed over the tags again, the first one being the one that caught his eye ‘military romance’, the rest of the tags weren’t too important as he ripped the paper. Sue him for latching onto it, maybe it was so hilarious that he could get through at least half the flight not bored out of his mind.
The ripped brown paper revealed a smooth black cover, a tunnel ending in a white circle with a soldier carrying another one over his shoulders, the title in plain white letters ‘Solider heart’. Soap flipped it, finding the reviews and a simple summary on the back. The author being anonymous, only the initials of what most likely already was pseudo name, ‘RS’. It held many awards, even called internationally best selling romance novel of it genre, which raised some eyebrows.
What had started as the longest flights of his life, turned out to be the shortest.

"Oh no, no, nooo," mutters the knight as he picks up speed and tightens his grip around his charge instead of dropping him like Keith wants.
"That's probably the dragon who lives here. We'll have to go faster if we don't want to be toast!" pants the knight, his voice nervous. "Hang tight!"
Keith breathes more fire and struggles but all it does is spur the knight on. The fool isn't even looking back to see where the fire's coming from, blindly assuming he's being chased by a fire-breathing dragon when /said dragon/ is bouncing painfully on his shoulder.Keith is stuck as a half-dragon and he's minding his own business when a knight kidnaps him from his own cave. Faced with good food and a comfortable couch, he finds it very hard to leave.

“You were raised Catholic, weren’t you?” Soap’s not expecting a question in response to his own, let alone one so out of left field, and Ghost can sense the indignation forming on his lips before he even responds, so he moves before the bratting can begin in earnest. A firm hand pushes down on Soap’s shoulder and despite his confusion he allows it to lead him down onto his knees. Ghost doesn’t remove the hand, but does lift one boot and rests it on Soap’s firm thigh. “It's worship, Johnny.”

The only response that warrants is a gruff unimpressed noise. So Shouto will be receiving absolutely no sympathy for his current predicament. Very well.
Time to change tactics.
“Hey, Katsuki. Do you want to play a game?”
“No.”
“Okay,” Shouto replies, syllables stretched out and voice still muffled by the cushion. “I’ll go first.”
Tuesdays always end this way, and Shouto hopes they always will.
