    Summary

It’s the same now. His contempt for the system that offers up shamans like sacrifices makes him eye non-sorcerers with suspicion, but the connection he shares with Satoru makes him laugh into his mug. The way he talks, the way he smiles. The way he sometimes chews with his mouth open, and the way he teases Satoru. The way he looks out for him, when he forgets to look out for himself. He isn’t the same person he was eleven years ago, and neither is Satoru, but then again, are they not? How else could Satoru explain how their conversation settles into an easy rhythm, cradled by a sense of familiarity? At the sight of the man sitting before him, his heart cheers in recognition, and his soul settles in peace.

A story about power and who holds it, life and who saves it, lessons and who learns them, and second chances and who gets them.

    Summary

“I’m in love with Satoru,” Suguru says again.

“So you’ve said,” Shoko says, sounding wearier than she has any right to be. “You want the good news or the bad news?” Suguru opens his mouth to answer, but Shoko apparently deems the answer unnecessary as she continues. “The good news is I’ve figured out what’s wrong with you, the bad news is that you probably won’t like it.”

Suguru stares at Shoko, hoping he doesn’t have to vocalize his obvious question.

“Whatever’s blocking your cursed energy also has the ability to stop you from saying certain things—specifically, lies,” she clarifies. “Basically, your body is forcing you to tell only the truth for the time being.” She shrugs. “If you try to resist, well. You know what happens.”

    Suguru continues staring at Shoko.

“So it’s true, then?” he says slowly. “I’m in love with Satoru?”

    ---

or, Suguru ingests a curse that forces him to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth

    Summary

Suguru Geto was not afraid of death. He welcomed it with open arms and died with no regrets. Rest, he was ready to rest. His soul was worn down, and his heart was spent.

Dying at the hands of his lover was all that he could ask for in his twisted reality, and he prayed to whatever was above that it wouldn’t destroy Satoru. Selfishly, he wished that their love would curse them for eternity.

You never can quite control wishes.

    Cursed they were.

OR - Suguru is stuck in Hengoku while he waits for Satoru to join him in the afterlife.

    Summary

“I feel like I’ve told you this before,” Satoru sighs eventually, still refusing to meet Suguru’s eyes. “I don’t— trust other people to touch me.”

Suguru lifts an eyebrow. “You don’t trust me?”

(or: Suguru just wants to touch Satoru without the barrier. Despite not allowing himself to be touched in years, Satoru lets him.)
