People began looting in major cities, creating mobs to rush important buildings or block off busy roads. You, living close to a semi-large city, could hear the sounds from afar; until those sounds turned to screaming, yelling, running. There were things out there. Things that wanted to hurt you. People that wanted to hurt you.
Will daybreak ever come again? Or was this new, apocalyptic setting forever your new reality? ...And why did a masked, bloodied, man just break into your bathroom?

She forced herself upright again through sheer stubborn momentum, twisting the knife toward his shoulder as he tried to close the distance again. Jeff caught her wrist mid-swing.This time he didn’t let go.His other hand shot upward and tangled hard into her hair.The sudden pain ripped a sharp breath from her lungs as he yanked her backward with brutal force.Her body collided against his chest.Before she could react, his grip twisted her arm downward, forcing the knife loose from her fingers.His arm locked around her from behind, fingers still tangled in her hair as he pulled her head back sharply.Cold steel pressed against the side of her throat.Jeff leaned closer,his voice dropping low near her ear.
“Told you,” Jeff murmured, breath still rough from the fight. “You’re good.”
The knife pressed slightly harder against her throat.
“But not that good.”
