Summary
Curiosity felt too small a word for what she felt. She was drawn to the intensity in Soyona’s eyes, the fire that burned behind them. That steady, unwavering confidence. Nothing like Kenji’s gentleness that felt safe, never setting her teeth on edge with thrill. This was a live wire, and Brooklynn was close to grasping it with her bare hand.

"I've missed you," Yaz admitted quietly. "This. Us. Sorry, I just wanted to take a minute to appreciate this."
Sammy smiled back and moved to cover Yaz's hands with her own. "I missed you too. Obviously. And it's still real sweet that you're doing all of this but…"
"I need to stop talking?" Yaz guessed.
"Yes! Do you have any idea how serious it has to be if I'm saying there needs to be less talking?" Sammy replied. "Seriously. Do I have to take my own shirt off?"
Or: Yaz and Sammy have been apart for too long, and Kenji makes it his mission to help them out while they're on their adventure

"So is this like that classic movie where the one dude paints the girl naked?" Brooklynn joked and then tried not to think about why her mind went there of all places. She grabbed her glass and drank so she didn't say something else even worse.
Soyona's expression shifted from shock, to pain, to resignation, and finally to defeat, "For your information I saw that movie when I was thirteen. They tell me DiCaprio was dreamy but Kate Winslet had my full and undivided attention."
In which Brooklynn's joke gets her into trouble.
