In which a Corporation Rim immigrant has more trouble adjusting to Preservation than the nonverbal little brother he rescued from their Tik-Tok mom, and mistakes Amena's Third Mom for a "serial unaliver." Lyric's stuff is always good of course, but it isn't always this hilarious.

Summary
Dr. Gurathin takes an old-fashioned approach to discouraging Murderbot's ongoing attempts to surveil his private residence on Preservation Station. Murderbot handles the situation with grace and dignity:
During previous incidents, Dr. Gurathin had messaged me over the feed with his objections, asking that I retrieve the identified drone and not use it to re-infiltrate his personal living space. Luckily, Mensah had bought me two cases of drones, so I was able to use a different one for each new infiltration, adhering to his request.
This time, he had unexpectedly dropped a container of hot liquid over the drone. It was still functional (a drone that couldn’t handle water would be useless for planetside deployments) but the audio was muted and its visual inputs were restricted to the interior of a First Landing University mug. I could probably push the mug off the furniture surface using the drone’s propulsion system, but I was getting a 99.2% risk assessment that this action would cause mug to break. That had an 84.6% chance of turning this incident from a minor annoyance into a Big Fucking Deal involving meetings and consensus and talking about this, ugh.

The one in which Murderbot picks Gurathin's lock with its feet. Or tries to! Hilarious but also contains a way to address the privacy vs security problem.

Bharadwaj’s documentary has spread stealthily throughout the Corporate Ring. A fanbase has arisen, and some fans have been writing to the subjects. As is so often the way with fans, a small percentage of them have some very odd ideas. Unfortunately, given the size of the Corporate Rim, that’s a small percentage of a huge number of

Summary
In Tunisia in 1942, a somewhat inept British spy (?) meets an unconventional Wehrmacht colonel. They understand one another better than either might have expected.
The Colonel reached into his breast pocket and opened a small locket on an old-gold chain, containing a vignette photograph of a ruggedly handsome, dark-haired man in Luftwaffe uniform, with a devilish smile and the premature crow’s-feet of someone who spends his days looking into unfiltered sun.
“My Rosen – Leutnant Kavalier. A bomber pilot, very dashing – though a bit of a reckless boy with no manners or graces. But we cannot rule where our hearts are given, can we?”
The Colonel carefully replaced the locket in his impossibly crisp uniform shirt, twitching aside a scarf of almost transparent peach-colored silk to do so.“I understand,” said Fell. “I’m – quite fond myself of someone like that – though I can’t think entirely what to do about it. It’s very difficult, with our being on – opposite sides, you see.””

Summary
Due to their overlapping but different skill sets, Aziraphale is better than Crowley at certain Temptations, and Crowley is better than Aziraphale at one supposedly-angelic Task. That’s not necessarily a downside of The Arrangement. It’s absolutely fine, providing that no-one Upstairs or Downstairs notices – and after nearly eight hundred years, what are the the chances of that?
Right.
It may not be the End of the World, but it’s the end of the Eighteenth Century, the world is changing far too fast, and an angel and a demon are up to their necks in Serendipity, even though that concept was only invented in 1754.

Summary
What sets an Angel apart from Heaven, or a Demon apart from Hell? Ethereal and occult alike (for Demons are but fallen Angels, originally cut from the same cloth), Angels were designed to follow directions, to never waver, to never make a choice. Good little soldiers, all in a row, Angels and Demons are alike in so many ways. And for most of them, on both sides of the divide, that is enough. They know their place in the Cosmos, and they occupy it with a vengeance.
An Angel and a Demon are not intended to have Free Will. Free Will leads to questions, what-ifs and why-fors, and an imagination. An imagination is a dangerous thing for an Angel or a Demon to have, for they can imagine a future where the world doesn’t end, a future of “our side” and “traitor” and burning cars that don’t explode and a body swap that shouldn’t be possible. Imagination is as good as a miracle where an Angel and a Demon are concerned.

Summary
Sophie had no hope of keeping up with Michael as he chased the star, even with her seven-league boot. He was a flail of limbs and a sploshy sound of madly running feet ahead of her, as the falling star streaked white down the sky. At the speed it had been going it should have hissed into the pools like a doused match long before he reached it, but now it slowed, as though it was moving through honey. She wrestled with her foot, stuck in the seven-league boot, as Michael stalked the star, a paper cutout against its stark white light.
“What is it? What do you want?” she could hear it shrill, bobbling nervously.
“I only want to catch you,” Michael explained. “I won’t hurt you.”
“Get off, you stubborn thing,” Sophie muttered to the boot, and at last wrenched her foot free. She set off stumping toward Michael. The star stared at the boy with frantic, flickering blue eyes.
“I could save you if you’d let me catch you,” Michael told it. His voice grew softer as he edged closer. “I know magic. Please—” he said, and then with one quick, darting motion, he closed his hands around it like a child catching a firefly.(in which michael is told to catch a falling star, and so he does.)

Aziraphale is enthusiastic about the internet, especially correcting certain people who are wrong on it, but he's run into a snag. His computer is behaving . . . oddly.

Summary
Apteros: (adj., Ancient Greek: ἄπτερος) wingless. Sometimes used as a descriptor for Nike, the goddess of victory, in her role as an aspect of Athena, the patron goddess of the city of Athens. Known as Athena Apteros or Nike Apteros, she was depicted without wings so that Victory would never be able to leave the city.
All myths have their roots in stories that are true. The myth of the founding of the city of Athens is no exception. But all stories have their darker side.

"If Eziraphael has come to be known--in today's language--as the 'guardian angel of sad queers,' then it makes sense for him to have shown up more regularly in the past once that became a recognizable historical category."
Natasha is really glad that she's given this talk enough times to be able to do it on autopilot, because those two funny-looking men in the back just made the most absurdly astonished faces.

Summary
Aziraphale was gone. Not gone from the bed, or gone for pastries. Not stepped out for a few, just gone.
Crowley closed his eyes, reaching past his flesh through the material world. There was no one in the shop. Humans crowded the street outside, bright sparks in their brief mortal cloaks; he flowed around them, reaching out, searching. No angel.
Crowley snapped back into his body already fighting down panic. His angel (my angel, he thought, possessively. Mine.) was competent and strong. He was okay. Clearly, he'd just... popped out somewhere. Somewhere out of this plane. Without saying anything. To somewhere that wanted to kill him....
Panic was winning.
(Or, when Aziraphale disappears Crowley has to find a way to bring him home and, once he comes home, bring him home again.)

Summary
After Armageddon Armageddidn't, Crowley and Aziraphale get together. Aziraphale is delighted to share the life he's been living as Soho's guardian angel, and Crowley is delighted to learn of this jealously guarded part of Aziraphale's life. Now, if only he could shake the feeling that Aziraphale's own hard-won sense of identity would be in some way negated by the fact that Crowley isn't, strictly speaking, a 'he' all the time.
