Apparently, Cady takes her hesitation as confirmation, because she gets this sad look on her face that makes Regina’s chest hurt, joining in with Regina’s neck and back.
“You can call me. You know that, right?” Cady says, putting a hand on Regina’s arm. Regina must look confused, because she clarifies, “Anytime. Even in the middle of the night.”or
The bus changed a lot about Regina's life, but her feelings for Cady maddeningly remain.

Cady shivers, and it has nothing to do with being cold. She doesn’t even answer the slew of messages. She changes into a pair of sweatpants and grabs a jacket to throw over her tank top. She’s desperate to see Regina alive, breathing, and in the flesh.
Cady doesn’t even knock when she enters Regina’s room. She focuses on the steady rhythm of the heart monitor as she walks across the room and finds Regina’s eyes glinting from the light of her IV pump.
Regina is steadily appraising her, azure scanning her every expression and movement. The neck brace is gone, and this Regina is more reminiscent of the one she came to know pre-accident. Fear, hope, and something heady she isn’t willing to knowledge intermingle within her at the sight. It’s dizzying, and she tries not to feel too warm under the gaze that feels like a physical caress.
“Are you going to stand there all night? Come here.”
Regina says, voice soft yet unwavering, like it’s been in the more recent times Cady has came by to visit.
