That was fifteen years ago. The City of Lights has had more reason than ever to keep its lamps lit. Charles has been less approachable than ever, and no censorship laws can keep the press from speculating on what's really happening the halls of government. And the Masters are finding out for themselves why Paris is sometimes called The City of Revolutions...

He had opted for the old bike in the garage over a car for one simple reason: he did not know how to drive. Getting a taxi may have been the next logical step forward, but none were available until three hours later. To wait until the taxi firms opened for business would have been to delay his decision, which would have been it's own decision. He had not come to a suitable conclusion about the whole Champmathieu affair; he didn't know where he was going or to what end. He would, in all likelihood, end up in Arras, for he felt compelled to travel in that direction, but what he would do when he got there was unknown to him.

A modernisation of Les Miserables Volume 1, Book 7, Chapter 5, 'Hindrances': Jean Valjean travels to Arras but encounters many obstacles along the way- including a flat tyre, a horrendous traffic jam, and a broken down bus.
