The Straw Hats spend months trying to determine who Luffy is bonded with and where on the evil scale Trafalgar Law lands.
Luffy acquires a grumpy surgeon friend, Law acquires a begrudging friend group, and neither of them realizes or cares that they're participating in a soulmate story.
Or: The least romantic soulmate AU imaginable featuring two stubborn idiots.

Summary
Depressed and freaked-out trauma surgeon Trafalgar Law takes a cross-country road trip with two days' notice. He has no set goal; he just wants to get the hell out of dodge.
Monkey D. Luffy decides to visit his brothers on the other side of the country. His bike breaks down halfway there.
Law picks Luffy up on the side of the road. It's the most chaotic thing he's ever experienced. (He wouldn't trade it for anything.)

Summary
The Straw Hats wake up one morning to find a stranger standing on deck, with gray hair and familiar golden eyes. The symbol on his long coat reveals his identity—none other than the Captain of the Heart Pirates.
Oh, and he is married.
Meanwhile, minding his own damn business on the Polar Tang half an ocean away, Law has no idea that he will have to answer to a very indignant Luffy on their next rendezvous.
