Fucking shit.
Why on earth did Serizawa feel the need to bring this up again? Was he trying to put Reigen in an early grave?
“My aura?” Reigen asked back.
That didn’t seem to be the case, as Serizawa only explained further his confusion. “Yesterday, I couldn’t see any of your aura. It was only later, when I went home, that I remembered…” he paused here, squinting at Reigen as if he tried enough he could see the offending aura. “You’ve never had an aura. Ever since I’ve met you, I’ve never been able to detect an aura from you.”
Well, no shit. How the fuck could Reigen even respond to that? Sorry Serizawa, I’ve actually been lying to you the whole time! I’m actually even more of a liar and cheat than you probably already think I am, and I’m so fucking useless that my entire company would go bankrupt without you or Mob, so wouldn’t you please stick around even after knowing what a fraud I am?

“He couldn’t see spirits or curses at all before I had him borrow my powers at the 7th division base.” Mob recounted “And he told me himself that he’s not an esper. He didn’t even believe ghosts and espers were real until I showed him my powers the day we met.”
Serizawa turned to look at Shigeo, seeing the vaguely conflicted expression on the teen’s face, and the way he shrugged in apparent defeat.OR: 5 times Reigen used his empath powers without knowing he was an esper, and the time Serizawa finally told him.

“Yeah, I guess it’s true, we haven’t –” Reigen barely hesitated before Serizawa was finishing his sentence for him.
“– Filed taxes?” Serizawa suggested, another nervous glance in Mob’s direction.
Reigen would’ve rolled his eyes clear out of his skull if he weren’t so anxious himself. “Fine, yeah. Sure. We haven’t filed taxes yet. So?”
Serizawa smiled a bit, clearly grateful for the indirect route. He visibly swallowed, throat bobbing as he steeled himself.
“Sorry,” Serizawa said, “it just didn’t occur to me. I’ve never... filed taxes before.”
Reigen wanted to scream.

Reigen is asexual and has no interest in sex. Serizawa is inexperienced, and isn't too sure about what he wants himself yet. Instead of talking about it like adults, they decide to keep everything to themselves and just guess what the other person's expectations of their relationship might be. As you can expect, this goes swimmingly.
