After a highly decorated decade-long military career, Rose’s much-needed time off is thwarted by a new assignment as commander of a space prison, of all things. Inside languishes Cinders, the victim of a burned-out planet who has been left to rot in solitary confinement. Rose sees a chance to right a long-ago wrong; Cinders sees the only kind hand extended to her in years. Pity she does not know Rose’s true colors…
