High school teacher Sylvie develops a relationship with the mysterious man upstairs in her apartment complex.
“Mademoiselle. Mademoiselle!” the voice became louder and more insistent as a hand rolled her over. She blinked into the full sunlight, the fuzzy shape above her settling into clear lines enough to see it was a man about her age. His face was framed by a neatly trimmed beard and flowing black hair, and his eyes were a startling greenish blue that popped from his pale freckled skin.
She gasped and struggled to sit up.
“No wait, you may have been injured. Just stay there for a minute. Did you fall? Does anything hurt?” he asked as he gently restrained her.
She closed her eyes in embarrassment, wishing she could make this man go away as easily as shutting them. She took a deep breath. “I’m fine. I was just…resting.”
