“Where are we?” Jack asked her, voice still a little woozy, and with the hand not holding the sonic she pointed behind him. He frowned, turned around, and she heard him gasp audibly. He spun back to her with wide eyes, “are we where I think we are?”
“Exactly when you think we are as well.” She grimaced and Jack’s face went pale. Yaz looked between them both, confused.
“Where are we?”
“Gallifrey. Sometime during the last great Time War.” Jack answered her, still turning as he tried to take everything in. Wonder in his tone beneath the panicked worry. He’d never thought he’d get to see this planet, least of all in the days before the Time Lords were all killed, “which should be impossible,” he continued, finally turning back to her, “I thought the time war was time locked?” the last question was aimed towards the Doctor who threw her free hand in the air.

“Time Lord society was, as I was taught, created by three people. Rassilon, the great engineer, The Omega, the mind behind Gallifrey’s scientific advancements and-” she cut herself off suddenly, realisation dawning on her face and her entire body seemed to jolt with the force of the realisation that occurred to her, “Oh!”
“Doctor? What is-” Yaz started but she was quickly cut off by the Doctor who flapped her hands at her desperately.
“Yaz! I love you but shut up a minute. Let me think.” The human obediently fell quiet and they all watched as the Doctor began to pace suddenly, her eyes still wide before she dropped onto the steps leading further into the TARDIS, the realisation giving away to shock as she mumbled out her next words, “I’m the Other.”

“I am not the Doctor. I finally came up with that name. Would you like to hear it?” She leaned in close, uncaring of whether he did want to or not and her lips peeled back in a wide grin, “I quite like Valeyard.”
He paled. Not just from the blood loss but from the realisation of what exactly he’d done to the Doctor hitting him like a ton of bricks. He’d admitted before that the Valeyard scared him. A Doctor without the morals and now he’d just released that into the universe. He could almost laugh at the reality in which he found himself in. The Valeyard had always terrified him. The prospect of facing down the Doctor without any of the compassion that they always had to slow them down. Every twisted and dark thought, every horrifying impulse the Doctor’d ever felt, all wrapped up in one little 5ft 7 blonde and with none of the moral compass that normally guided the Doctor’s every move.

While working on solving the issue of Grace slowly dying of starvation, malnutrition, and a host of other issues, the Eridians discover the human internet (largely Wikipedia) and fall down a rabbit hole of trying to figure out everything they can about the needs of their squishy alien savior. While most of their focus is on the food issue, another link catches their (metaphorical) eyes.
"Touch starvation, also known as touch deprivation or skin hunger, is the physiological need by humans and other species for physical contact with their own species or other living beings."

"Iz huhg," Grace sniffled out, sucking back in moisture from his noze, too. There was moisture and water and everything all over the place. "Huhg meens grayt, grayt, grayt affekshun."
"Oh," he said tentatively. Another hewmin thing! He shuffled closest to the wall Grace was huhging and leaned in. "Oh. Am I doing correctly, hmm?"
"Yis," Grace sighed out, calming down. He still leaked, though.
Oh, well. Leaky hewmins were his favorite, after all.

“They kept asking questions that had nothing to do with Quinn’s performance.” I roll my eyes and notice that I’m getting worked up again. Trying to get the midnight blue Eridian back on track had been a nightmare and I’d almost lost my composure a couple of times. “Just what I like to do and what I’ve seen of Erid so far and if they can give me a tour once my suit is finished. And they insisted I tell them what my favorite type of mineral is. I mean, why would they want to know that? What does that have to do with how their kid is doing in class?”
Midway through my rant Rocky has stopped carding his claw through my hair. He is silent for a few seconds and I’m just about to ask him if he’s alright when his whole body starts to tremble. It alarms me enough that I wiggle my arms underneath me and lift my upper body off the couch.
“Rock?”
But then the trembling morphs into full on shaking and then laughter so loud and shrill that I have to cover my ears.
