Summary
Disaster strikes the Hail Mary on its way back to Earth. The taumoeba escape their breeding tanks, and make it to the fuel lines. Stranded in space just outside the Tau Ceti system, Dr Ryland Grace can't do anything. He can't go save Rocky, he can't go save Earth. Exhausted, out of options, and distraught, he fills the ship with nitrogen, and takes his final breath.
Next thing he knows, his eyes flutter open in his San Francisco apartment. It's a year before ArcLight touches down on Earth, but he remembers the Petrova Task Force.

This…thing keeps happening to him, where when he gets too overwhelmed he feels younger, like he’s mentally reverting back almost a decade, sometimes even more. Katsuki has no idea what’s happening to him or why he can’t just get over this and move past it. All he knows is that he cannot afford anyone finding out about it, no matter what.
Surprise surprise, next thing he knows he’s crying into Deku’s shoulder (Deku, of all people!) while Deku calls his mom in the middle of the night to let her know she needs to come and get him.

Summary
For as long as he can remember, Zuko knew he would have no say in who he would marry. Anyone familiar with basic royal customs would realize it as well. Marriage wasn’t a luxury or some grand display of love; marriage was for convenience and a power move if done correctly. It meant nothing to Zuko. He was raised with the knowledge that he would one day be sent off to live with a stranger for the sake of his nation, and it didn’t matter if he ended up happy or not. His happiness didn't matter.
All this to say, when his father tells him that he is to marry a stranger from the Southern Water Tribe and use their marriage as an opportunity to spy on the enemy, Zuko knows he has no choice. It's just...he didn't expect this stranger to be so kind to him.

He hadn’t meant to fall.
One second he was in the training bay the next he was barely making it to his room, gripping the bathroom doorway hard enough for his knuckles to turn white. His chest heaved, his head was fuzzy, the walk there was already slipping from his memory.
Then the floor tilted.
Pain shot through his lower back and his knees buckled. He hit the ground hard, the impact rattling through his bones. The room spun as he swayed before collapsing fully onto his side.
“Fuck that hurt” he muttered.
He tried to breathe through it
His cheek pressed against the floor, skin sticking with sweat and tears.
Tears.

It's not jealousy. Adrian is adamant about that. They are actually insisting that it’s not any emotion at all. Not even dislike. They are simply completely uninterested in anything that concerns “the human”.
Rocky believes them. Adrian has always been the level-headed one out of the two of them. They are too logical to be jealous. They acknowledge that Grace and Rocky have a special bond after everything they went through together and also understand that none of that will ever pose a threat to their relationship.
Neither are they heartless or ungrateful. They know that Grace is the only reason that Rocky is back at all, the only reason their star has stopped dying. Adrian has told Rocky again and again that they are grateful and happy and wish the alien no ill will. They even helped with the construction of the biodome.
And yet they have no desire to get to know Grace.

The facts are: he’s a broken human being, he likes me, Batman is an echo of some past trauma, and everything crystallized in this moment from this chemical mixture. He likes me. No matter how bad it gets, that’s an irrefutable fact. I’m crazy, but I’m lucid. I can say these big words like epistemology. I know how to justify a belief. If he didn’t like me, I would be dead or employed. The reasoning follows, he is capable of liking people.
