Summary
Merlin is in the middle of the courtyard, facing the dragon that is flying just a few meters away from him. Arthur is about to yell at him. Is he an idiot?! Why doesn't he run?! But then he sees something that impresses him even more than the fire-breathing winged beast. Just after his servant says something in a language he doesn't understand, a spear that is lying on the ground flies and hits the Dragon.
The weapon bounces off the monster's scales without making any scratches, but that's the last thing Arthur can focus on right now. Magic… his servant just did…
“Don't think your petty magic can hurt me!” the dragon taunts and Arthur convinces himself that, maybe, he's losing his mind. The beast… did the beast just speak?
OR
Magic reveal while the dragon was terrorizing Camelot, ends up in Merlin being kidnapped by said dragon and Arthur with the task to find the last dragonlord to save him.

Merlin wiped blood from his lip, adrenaline surging, mixing with something hotter. Arthur's grip tightened, bodies pressed close in the shadows, the alley reeking of garbage and gunpowder.
“Okay. We'll try.” Merlin muttered, dropping to his knees on the gritty pavement. His nose throbbed, blood trickling steady, but he didn't care. He fumbled Arthur's belt open, yanking down the zipper with bloody fingers.
Agent Merlin nearly lost the man he loved.

Summary
Merlin is attacked by a sorcerer, blasting him with some sort of spell. He doesn’t think the spell had any effect on him, until he begins coughing up flowers. He learns he’s been hit with the "Beddablostma Curse", which causes the victim to die by suffocating on flowers due to their unrequited love. The only cure is a True Love’s Kiss from Arthur, or to lose his memories of Arthur forever.
It’s the Hanahaki Disease trope, but I renamed it and added some twists of my own. Plus it's not a disease, it's a curse.

Summary
After Merlin's magic is discovered by Arthur, he understands the king's need for some time apart. But the loss of the king's trust is a bitter pill to swallow, and even more so the loss of his love. Forced to wait until Arthur is willing to deal with him again, Merlin begins to realize that the loss of Arthur's love isn't just emotionally painful, but physical as well. He hasn't been able to breathe without pain since that day in the forest. And his cough is producing flower petals, a sign that something much worse is going on. Merlin isn't stupid, but he without options. There's no cure, and even if there was, it's definitely not pressure he's willing to put on his love. Merlin is content with his decision.
Arthur isn't.

With nothing else to occupy his mind, Merlin's thoughts turned to Arthur. He’d looked so happy with Lance at the pub, everything about them fitting together perfectly. How awful was Merlin, to resent Arthur’s happiness? God knows Arthur hadn’t always had an easy time of it, with his bigoted father. He deserved happiness, even if it couldn’t be with Merlin.
Another coughing fit took him, harsh coughs tearing from his throat as he desperately gasped for air. There was something stuck in his throat, tearing at his windpipe, and try as he might, he couldn’t dislodge it. Black spots began to dance in front of his eyes, and he realised, as if watching from afar, that he was about to faint. "House has read every paper on it from early publications in 100-year-old books, to recent things in Nature and other prestigious journals. It is understood that humans in love have a physical manifestation of that, though the “love organ” or whatever that is has never been found. The only time it is found is when it’s necrotic, infected, and dying from the flowers and plants taking root in there. It’s not in healthy individual lungs, so no one knows where it hides if it’s there at all. Secondly, not all unrequited love or a perception of unrequited love triggers Hanahaki. Psychiatric journals publish every day conflicting evidence on what the psychological trigger is. It’s really hard to say, and then there’s the groups of people who talk about destiny, fate, and soulmates and it gets a thousand times more convoluted.
A take on House MD in which Gregory House has had a chronic form of Hanahaki Disease for 18 years that is now going into relapse while he lives with Wilson in the Condo (set during season 6-ish).
