Summary
Nothing good comes out of a middle-of-the-night phone call. It’s never someone calling to say they got the job, or that they’re engaged, or that something finally worked out the way it was supposed to. Those calls wait for morning and a version of the world where good news has room to exist. A call that comes at night only ever means something has gone wrong, that someone is awake when they shouldn’t be, choosing words they don’t want to say. And somewhere else, someone is about to answer, not knowing that whatever comes next will divide everything into before and after.
When Ted faces a personal tragedy, Rebecca boards a plane without hesitation.

Summary
Rebecca lost her inhibitions at some point this evening. Abandoned them along with her relationship and her left shoe and the words "this is a bad idea." And she has no real interest in finding them again. Possibly ever.
No, that's not quite true. She definitely wants her shoe back.

Summary
She sucks on her teeth as he lifts the hem of his shirt up, wiping his forehead with it and putting a good bit of his stomach on display for what feels like just her. The cool air cycling through her home doesn’t feel quite as cool anymore, and her next breath comes a little shorter. He’d be more comfortable, she thinks, if he just abandoned the shirt altogether.
