Lestat’s thoughts had been spiraling for hours, circling the same memories, the same fears, the same unanswerable questions. Paris loomed in his mind like a specter, its shadow stretching across every thought, every breath. He had been sitting on the edge of the hotel bed, his body rigid, his fingers twitching as if they could claw the memories out of his skull.
