Chris did not move the gun. The barrel stayed pressed to Wesker’s temple, finger steady on the trigger guard.

But pick up the kid and adopt him.
Lois finds out about the GIW and Anti-Ecto Acts, and is like a dog with a bone. Bruce is less than thrilled that he couldn't adopt the boy first. But at least he'll get to be the fun uncle. And Jazz, Tucker, and Sam all get shiny new guardians out of it too.

Re-write of the original version. Different first meeting and relationship dynamics and I finally found a way to shoe-horn a bit of Merle in there - Yay!!!
There are two people alive in this world for whom childhood was a dangerous, precarious, frightening place. For whom life has never been easy and relationships always strained and unnatural things. Having connected, against the odds and then been torn apart by civilization falling around them. How will they react when they meet each other again.
One of them has survived on a deep well of anger and pain, found a family, of sorts, and begun to try and put his past behind him and learn to let people in. The other has dropped the pretense she'd built up before the world went to shit and now she is as detached and self-reliant as he used to be. What happens when these two meet? Can two misshapes fit together and face the world as a better, stronger, complete whole? Can they find, in each other, a place to call home at last?

Summary
Rick knew he would die when he blew the bridge. He knew it was over for him.
The thought of what was left of his family being safe — that was all that mattered now. The people he’d fought, bled, and sacrificed for. He takes in Daryl’s tearful eyes, hears Michonne’s agonized scream of his name echoing even over the groans of the horde.
He feels the bridge trembling beneath his boots, feels the weight of every step that led him here. He raises his Colt Python, the steel cool and familiar in his hand. The dynamite shudders along with the bridge, the herd closing in.
“I found ‘em,” he whispers, his voice breaking around the words.
Then he pulls the trigger.
The explosion roars like thunder. Fire erupts, swallowing everything — the bridge, the walkers, him. The last thing Rick sees is a wall of orange and gold rushing toward him, heat and light burning through his chest before the world goes black.

Jessica Allwood loved the zombie genre and had, to some degree, playfully prepped for a zombie apocalypse. She really didn't think it could happen, but at least her survival skills, camping gear and sword fighting classes would come in handy, right? When the sirens in her neighborhood start blaring and screams start to echo from across the street, she hid behind the walls of her house, totally in denial because no WAY could zombies actually happen. After wandering out for supplies, she comes across an abandoned cop car and gives in to the fact that yes, the dead are walking and she needs to get the hell out of Michigan before the snow comes.
Jessica eventually makes her way down to Georgia and meets a crossbow wielding, sexy and broody as hell guy named Daryl. Bringing her to the prison after she saves his ass, he realizes that the chick who saved him, who is annoying and always trying to laugh about something is all he can seem to think about.
Things and stuff ensue. I kinda suck at this (I KNOW cliche) but I swear the actual story is much better. Please give it a try! Will warn about triggers. Explicit for a reason
