He didn't know what, if anything at all. Just this irreparable, hollow feeling that something was missing.
It was slipping–no, pulling–out of him and suspended in the air. Until the daunting figure that stood before him raised their hands and all the colors that lingered around him like a galaxy morphed into oddly shaped stars, distant and familiar, except nothing could have been familiar, and shot high above him.
His hand rose, because that scraping, violating feeling that dug out those colors, had left him feeling… had left him knowing…

Had just left him.
He didn’t know what to think, didn’t know what was right, didn't know what was wrong.
Because whoever he was didn’t know anything.OR
Izuku Midoryia and Katsuki Bakugo were happily married, happily domestic, and stupidly in love. They found a semblance of peace within each other to navigate the world together. So, when a mission got screwed, in that spectacular way it usually does for them, and Izuku lost his memories— well, it fell to Katsuki to hold the pieces together.

As expected, it’s kind of hard to ignore being followed by a ghost—especially when that ghost is someone you see practically every time you close your eyes.
With Katsuki halfway back into the land of the living, the teacher-remade-hero begins to realize something.
A lot can change in eight years.

This is it. Izuku felt his lungs gasp for air as this nightmare dawned upon him, vision blurry with tears. It's over for me. he stared ahead lifelessly, briefly wondering what he did to deserve such a fate, why his selfless mother would have her life ripped away from her.
He can't forsee himself in the future, and when he does, he is assaulted by an image of a blackened corpse, not unlike the one laid in his arms. He doesn't know how much his life will change in the near future. That a promise he made almost a decade ago will be fulfilled, to be intertwined with a certain blonde until the last light.
