He was turning his entire being upside down. Against every single vein in his body, against his rightful mind, he didn’t want Puss to die just yet, and it was absolutely enraging.

It's been two months since Puss saw Death the last time. Puss, Kitty and Perrito steal items from time to time together. However, as they try to steal a ring, they fall into a trap and Puss is thrown down a cliff separately from the two.
There he meets an old acquaintance, he apparently didn't know much about.
But surely their ways would part shortly thereafter.. right? -

I took the characters from Volume 3 but I made them all aware of who the bad guys are.
