Thanks to Arianna and Carodee, who offered their expert advice many, many years ago and have probably forgotten all about it. I didn't adopt all of your suggestions in the end, as this story became something very different in the end, but hearing your thoughts definitely helped me to find my way.
There are some long, rambling authors’ notes at the end of this fic for anyone who wants them, but in summary - there's nothing triggery in this fic that would need an AO3 warning, but if you're looking for a story with a happy ever after, this is not the fic you're looking for.

Summary
Steve takes things like personal responsibility and respect seriously. Tony's got people he pays to take care of that kind of thing, and anyway, he's pretty sure that he's going to die of some exotic disease in his workshop, because Dummy's still a little spotty about what is 'clean' enough to put on an open wound. The rest of the Avengers are in this for personal gain, except for Clint, he just enjoys being a dick.
And some things shouldn't be a chore.
