“Nat, Tai!” Shauna cried as the two ran through the cobbled streets, into the goat house and up the stairs to the attic. “Wait, wait wait, don’t let them hear you!”
Natalie and Taissa were to far ahead to hear her, cackling like witches while Shauna struggled to catch up.
Natalie poked her head up first, grinning like a psycho, then Tai, then Shauna, who frowned at the absence of the three women.
“There’s no one here!” Nat huffed, disappointed.
“Are you sure?” Taissa asked Shauna
“Of course I’m sure!” Shauna snapped. “Do you think I’d forget my daughter’s moms?”
Taissa and Natalie exchanged a look.
Shauna swatted them. “They were all here! Jackie Taylor, Melissa, and Lottie ‘Lunatic’!”
Taissa gasped at the nickname.
“Lottie Lunatic?!” Gasped Natalie with a laugh.OR

Summary
Shauna hadn't seen Jackie in five years. Five years since their friendship blew up, Jackie presented as an alpha, and walked straight out of Shauna's life. And that was just fine. Shauna was doing fine. Great even. She was in grad school. She had close friends. And she definitely wasn't lacking in fun, casual sex.
But here's the thing: alpha Jackie wasn't what she'd expected at all. And maybe that was a sign of personal growth, so congrats, Jackie! But it also made her much more dangerous to Shauna's sanity.
__________Shauna sighed in frustration as Jackie dropped the ingredients into the pot.
“That’s not how you fold it in,” Jackie said gently.
Shauna rolled her eyes, but her breath hitched when Jackie placed a hand over hers and showed her how to do it.
“You have to turn your wrist like this while you stir,” Jackie said quietly.
Jackie’s hands were soft and a bit clammy. They were so close now that she could see each of her long lashes. Jackie’s gaze met Shauna’s and then dropped down to her lips. Shauna unconsciously licked them, leaning in even closer.

Summary
Shauna and Jackie have had a handful of fights over their years of friendship, this was much different. Shauna knew she had fucked this up, there was no use trying to fix it. For months they ignore each other, but when they finally do speak, Jackie does something Shauna never expected in the millions of times she has thought of their reunion.
