I love the concept of like... for whatever reason something possessing Akaza to train Senjurou, and this does it really well. Akaza becoming Big Brother #2 for Sen :'). I think Senjurou really shines here, and it feels right for him to be both more terrified of Akaza at first and more willing to accept the murder and cannibalism as something Akaza just does/has to do than a trained slayer would be. He's such a sweet kid really, and it feels right that he'd be more easily empathetic that way, even when it's kinda morally dubious. It's also very funny that he gets dragged through this whole boyfriend or brothel misunderstanding to cover it up. The second one puts the pillars to very successful comedic use imo, Uzui especially.

(I'm also imagining that whenever Rengoku and Akaza finally tell Senjurou about whatever the hell they're doing is called, and Akaza has this aura of like [Hotel Transylvania meme] haha I am fucking your brother)

I've spent less time thinking about Kokushibou in depth than Akaza, so I have less distinct thoughts on how he should be written, but the way this does him feels perfect to me. The shift in writing style suits his internal narration really well, and you can really tell the author has spent a lot of time thinking about how he would work as a person. (God, he deserved more attention in canon.) Grandpa Koku rediscovering the merits and necessities of interpersonal connection is such a simple yet fitting character piece.

Of course, I also have to comment on the guard dog Akaza detail lmao. You can take the Akaza out of the 狛 name but you can't take the komainu out of the Akaza

“I think it’s still happening,” Kyoujurou says, looking the closest to sheepish that Akaza’s ever seen him. “The Blood Art, it’s making me… say things.”

    “…Say things,” Akaza repeats.

Because he is afraid to close his eyes.

(And why wouldn't he be? The last time he lost consciousness, he died again. The time before that, he opened his eyes to see a crater where a city once was, a graveyard he dug with his own hands.)

No, Yuuji can't sleep. He's not allowed to.

I love these dhampir/werewolf itafushi fics a kind of embarrassing amount, but they're really the best ones I've seen out there. Very in character and the writing has a good sense of how to make the events seem impactful, as well as I think just a fun idea for the concept. Idk I just appreciate when people do it in a way that keeps the monsters monstrous and the internal turmoil of being one feeling like a reasonable response to those urges. Also just very sweet relationship development for them. I'm not really a yuutamaki person, but those were pretty good too.
