Summary
"So he's really paralyzed?" Simon asks.
"Oh? Uh, yeah." Grace turns back to Rocky's sleeping form and gestures broadly at him.
Rocky is curled at the bottom of his tunnel, legs at his sides, body resting on the ground.
Simon nods, looking uncomfortable. "So he won't interrupt."
"Nah, he can't, he's– huh?" Grace fumbles for his glasses in earnest now. His heart rate picks up, but he's sort of hoping he's wildly misinterpreting what he just heard.
"Sit back down." Simon growls as Grace goes to stand up.
Slowly, Grace sits back down on the floor. He looks Simon over again and realizes, with a panicked flutter in his stomach that quickly spreads through his limbs like ice water, that Simon is holding a razor blade.

Grace & Rocky decide to go check out an SOS call. It could have gone better. (Trust me, eventual codependent friendship all around.)

Simon sobs, but it comes out as more of a laugh. Why was he laughing? Fuck if he knows anymore.
“…hey…” Says the voice, remarkably gentle.
Since when did Simon deserve gentle?
…Since when did he uncover his ears?
The voice is alarmingly clear now, so much so that he might have been able to close his eyes and imagine the person as though they were sat next to him.
“…are you there?”

Simon faces certain death at the bottom of a blood ocean to atone for sins that weren't even his to begin with. Not all of them. Odds are bleak and hope is fleeting, but then a transmission comes in through his radio that, by all means, should have been broken—and it's not from the COI.

Summary
Grace and Rocky are on their way to Erid when they encounter a strange terrestrial vessel that has somehow made its way to space. The single occupant is alive and Grace and Rocky rescue him, but they are then faced with the challenge of gaining this stranger's trust and dealing with the contamination he brought with him.

"What do you WANT?"
“I just want you to live!” Grace threw up his hands in exasperation “Is that so wrong? Is that so hard to believe?!—” he lowered his hands and quieted his voice. It took enormous effort. “I just want you to stay alive, and I need you to just sit still so you don’t die.”
The man’s expression dissolved from roiling rage to bafflement. There was something else too though. Grace could see cogs spinning behind the man’s eyes. Something about that answer had stuck.

Summary
