This isn’t a new occurrence. See, Kim’s been trying this thing lately where he plays with gender and style and Chay’s sanity. Kim’s long admired the more feminine fashion styles, and he’s been expanding into them with open glee ever since Korn died and leaving Chay utterly weak in the knees doing it. Kim, already unfairly gorgeous, has been growing more and more beautiful every day as he settles into his new, ever-changing style, but Chay thinks he’s managed to handle the whole affair with quiet dignity and great aplomb.
Well.
He’s sure he was, right up until that morning when he’s innocently fixing himself a cup of coffee and Kim exits their bathroom wearing lipstick so red it breaks Chay’s brain.

Into the phone Sand is saying, "—anywhere nearby where you can wait? I can come right now but it'll take me—"
It's Dot, Ray can tell from the severity in Sand's voice. There is a difference of panic in his voice between his mom and his daughter, and Ray is certain he's the only other person in the world who can recognize it. "Sand. Is Dot okay? Tell me what's going on."
[In the future, Sand and Ray's daughter wakes them in the middle of the night when she's drunk.]
