“I didn’t mean to. It was just an experiment gone wrong.”
“No,” Joka almost roared, “This is the last time.”
“What do you mean?” Her eyes snapped back to her sister’s furious ones, “I’m a scientist, Joka. This is how I make my money.”
“If you don’t end up killing yourself,” Joka fumed, “You’re going to end up in prison. You’re lucky the paramedics didn’t ask any questions about what they saw in your apartment. But you might not be so lucky next time.”

It all started as an experiment gone wrong, but instead of making a scientific breakthrough, Maomao is admitted to a psychiatric hospital. There she meets a host of characters who definitely belong there (but not her) including a very beautiful man who seems to think he's stuck in a Chinese historical drama.
