Kurt lets it all out. Sings “Rose’s Turn,” because he’s fucking done being the boy that was forced to push himself down, forced to sacrifice for a boy who never appreciated him, who went two weeks without him and ended up fucking another guy.
Kurt Hummel deserves better than this. Kurt Hummel deserves a world that didn’t expect him to settle, because he was too much and he needed to make himself too little.
Well, fuck that. Kurt Hummel would rather be too much than too little. He would rather burn out on his own terms, a goddamn firework, than be burnt up by someone else's consuming fire.
And when he’s done, he’s breathing hard. He’s shaking. He’s trembling, because he's free, because he's himself, and himself might be burned and bruised but it is his.
This is the school that was ripped from him. This is the life that should have been his, if he hadn’t let Blaine take that starring role away from him-
“You do know, Mr. Hummel,” comes a familiar voice from a dream, “That if you’d performed like that, I would have had no choice but to overlook your anemic record and let you in.”
