Summary
"Are you alright?" Hizashi asked, concern evident in his scent. That was weird. Shouta could smell him much better than usual. "Normally you're under a bunch of blankets. It's a little cold in here, even for me."
Something in the back of Shouta's mind decided that was completely unacceptable. Hizashi was cold and he needed to do something about it. Logically, he knew that Hizashi would be okay. That if he was really that cold he could get a blanket for himself. Rationally, he knew that the comment had been more about Shouta's abnormal behavior than Hizashi's temperature.
Typically Shouta was a very rational and logical person. He attributed most of it to his hero training and overall personality, but would but the first to acknowledge some of it had to do with his designation. Betas were seldom plagued by the instincts that effected their alpha and omega peers.

Shouta thinks he's a beta. He's not.

Summary
While sorting through some boxes Shouta finds a cassette tape. It's a compilation of audio recordings Hizashi made. Each one corresponds with a big moment in their lives.
Most of them are sweet moments. Hizashi getting into UA, picking hero names, their first date, getting married.
But some of them talk about the more difficult moments, USJ, the war, Shouta losing his leg. Hizashi was struggling with those parts of their lives more than Shouta had realized.
He might still be struggling with those things. Shouta decides to ask him about it when he gets home.

“I don’t think I could learn to live without Hizashi.”
The confession was spoken softly, but as he said it, Shouta felt his voice break. Like, on-the-verge-of-tears-break. For the first time in at least a decade. And Nemuri heard it too, based on the way her already bone-crushing grasp seemed to tighten.
“Sho?” She implored softly.
“Hm.” He didn’t bother replying beyond that, desperately trying to defend against the abundance of emotions that were rapidly approaching him.

Shouta finally gets in touch with his emotions after years of pining, and comes to the realization that he is indisputably in love with Hizashi. Summary
The first time Shouta heard it, his exhausted mind didn’t flag it as important.
“Whatever our souls are made of... his and mine are the same,” Hizashi murmured.
His mind supplied a category automatically: reference. Something half-remembered, half performed. English did that to Hizashi. It let him be theatrical without being exposed.
It’s only days later that the memory resurfaced, suddenly heavy.
