Sky is trans, and fully transitions into a man. Because of the way legends work, this gets kind of mucked up by the time Four's era rolls around.
It doesn't help that Four and Dot have been in an engagement from birth, to protect Dot from suitors till she's 18 and it gets broken off. Well. The engagement was technically supposed to be between the Smiths' firstborn son and the Princess, but Four's mother didn't exactly survive the birthing process, so a daughter will have to do.

"So he's really paralyzed?" Simon asks.
"Oh? Uh, yeah." Grace turns back to Rocky's sleeping form and gestures broadly at him.
Rocky is curled at the bottom of his tunnel, legs at his sides, body resting on the ground.
Simon nods, looking uncomfortable. "So he won't interrupt."
"Nah, he can't, he's– huh?" Grace fumbles for his glasses in earnest now. His heart rate picks up, but he's sort of hoping he's wildly misinterpreting what he just heard.
"Sit back down." Simon growls as Grace goes to stand up.
Slowly, Grace sits back down on the floor. He looks Simon over again and realizes, with a panicked flutter in his stomach that quickly spreads through his limbs like ice water, that Simon is holding a razor blade.

Grace & Rocky decide to go check out an SOS call. It could have gone better. (Trust me, eventual codependent friendship all around.)

UPDATE: this has been morphed into my own original links meet au called Soullinked, i realized that how i write the linked universe links are completely different from how they actually are in the comic (heck, i dont even stay updated with the comic) and were very much my own interpretation of them. i have no hate to linked universe obviously but uhh the silly spirit interpretation along with the absoultely (now transfem) chaotic ignorant (nothing to do with the gender btw she's just mean) wild interpretation and also a completely removed from social interaction as a person and wont let go of the past legend interpretation is in that au so uh. yeah lol regardless enjoy this silly discontinued fic :)

I sit up too fast, though, and end up seeing spots. It takes me a couple seconds for my brain to stop feeling like TV static. The first time that happened, Rocky freaked out. But it's been happening for months now, since I'm eating less and tired far more often, and both of us have just sort of gotten used to it. I wonder if it'd be worse or better in zero-g.
