Summary
Ever noticed how Po and the Five are already besties by the start of Kung Fu Panda 2? I always loved that fact because it offered a new dynamic from the first movie and showed the passage of time. But what happened during that passage?
When Tigress was young, she experienced many changes in her life. Going to live with Shifu, the Furious Five moving in, gradually collecting more and more family in a way that was not… completely uncomfortable and terrifying. Somehow this change was the biggest though. It shouldn’t be, not compared to moving into a palace and going from the only person in the barracks to one of five. But somehow, just one Panda moving in was all it took to turn the Jade Palace on it’s head… in a way that Tigress had to admit… was not entirely a bad thing.
(Now if only she could just tell him how sorry she was)

Only when Po held the completed order in his paw did he realize the hand in front of him was not an open palm demanding food. It was a long claw of a digit, pointed directly at him.
Po’s mind was entirely quiet as he took in the kung fu legend and his shaking yet unerring digit. Or—no, that wasn’t his mind. It was the crowd, struck silent some time ago.
The bowl in Po’s hand was steaming hot, fresh from the noodle cart.
…There was only one thing Po was supposed to do with fresh bowls of noodles on the job.
“Here you go, sir.” Po croak-whispered. “Enjoy.”
“Thank you,” Oogway smiled, humor and kindness shining in his eyes. The ancient turtle swapped the bowl to his other hand and continued pointing at Po.
Po blinked at the turtle, uncomprehending. “Do you… want another one?”
“No, friend,” Oogway chuckled warmly. He took a sip, smacking his mouth thoughtfully. “Actually, yes. But later, I think.”
Oogway’s staff caught Po’s extended hand and lifted it high.
“The Universe has brought us the Dragon Warrior!”
OR
Po makes it to the Dragon Warrior Tournament. Early. With the noodle cart.

“Hey man—Master! Oogway. Sir.” Po wheezed a bit, almost laughing, because WHAT? “So, this is nuts. You know there’s no way I’m the Dragon Warrior, right? You gotta know.”
“The wise man knows he knows nothing,” Oogway returned, instead of goggling at Po in disbelief like the other five Kung Fu Masters before him.
“That’s not reassuring,” Po’s mouth uttered without input from his brain. “You know. Considering.”
OR
Po is the Dragon Warrior, but everyone has a lot of issues with that. Including Po, who might be getting kidnapped, right now.
