Regulus Black would like to believe that he is a rather composed person, whether that be in emotions, in his choice of clothing, in his behaviors, whatever “composed” might entail.
It’s the direct result of years of discipline in the Black family. Do not be emotional; Do not go out of line; Do not be unrefined; Don’t speak unless spoken to; Don’t be loud; Walk straighter; Dress neater; Keep your head up but eyes down; Always pure.
But when he struts down the cold and dim corridors of Hogwarts, on the seventh floor and heading towards his dorm after meeting with Professor Flitwick, and is stopped in his tracks by one James Potter, his composure is oh so tested, and his belief wavers.

Regulus loves being a naughty boy. He frequently forgets his place, steps out of line and does things he really shouldn't. James constantly has to remind him to behave, helping him snap out of it—sometimes not just with words, but with something much heavier, like a cane. And Regulus finds far too much pleasure in that. After all, Regulus is practically begging for punishment, and James is always more than happy to give Regulus exactly what he deserves.
