Summary
Emma almost has everything. She's got a wonderful son, a beautiful, tender friend and co-parent, and a family she can count on. It was all she ever dreamed of, once upon a time. At times, she thinks she finally understands what authors mean when they end their story with: they lived happily ever after.
But the feeling always leaves her by the morning. Sometimes she thinks her real happy ending has disappeared somewhere in the past, somewhere in between the curses and forgotten memories. And now it is only a possibility lost to her memories.

Summary

The tattoo had been a memento, a reminder of Regina and the strength the other woman had given her. It had been a silent love letter, inked into Emma's skin days before her marriage to Hook. And now? Now the secret freedom of it mocked her.
A year and a half into her unhappy marriage, Emma finds herself missing the one-time Mayor of Storybrooke, but the sense of duty to her infant daughter and her abusive husband keeps her still, stuck in Storybrooke. She's not The Girl With The Swan Tattoo anymore, she's not "Miss Swan", she's not even Emma... And she doesn't know how to get herself back. All she knows is that everything she wanted to be left with a sad pair of dark brown eyes.
Regina, now a full-time resident of Boston, has done her best to forget her previous life. Has done her best to reinvent herself. But when Emma's birthday approaches, she can't resist the opportunity to see her again, even if she has to stomach the pirate and ignore the longing in her heart.
