Rumi’s eyes flicked between them, a slow, reluctant smile tugging at her lips. Usually so composed, she could feel her armor slipping under their steady, intimate teasing.
Rumi swallowed, her throat suddenly dry.
“I… I think it’s good,” she mumbled, trying to keep her voice even, but it cracked halfway through. “I mean—n-not the best, but…”
She trailed off, painfully aware of how warm her skin had gotten.

Hajime’s words are the only ones he consciously and unhesitatingly allows to make a home in his heart, that he wants to remember for the rest of his life. They tease and insult and fight one another, but there's always an unavoidable fondness to it all that the words don’t sting. They never sting if they come from Hajime.
They do sting when they come from people who don't even know him. The classmates he puts on his best face for, who he tries his damndest not to irritate with his particular brand of loud, slightly obnoxious humor.
