It's been ten years since Max sacrificed herself to save Chloe from Nathan. Victoria and Chloe hooked up somewhere in the aftermath, and by the time Kate runs into Victoria again, she's going by "Professor Price," teaching at the same college Kate's working at, and almost immediately pulling Kate into her strange life. Kate has to adjust to her new job as a victim advocate at a university, while simultaneously managing Victoria and Chloe's demands on her time and attention, but she starts to find that she doesn't mind it. That much.
But there's more going on in Kate's head than just nerves.
Takes place after "Cockroaches" and "Waiting for the Fever to Break." Significantly lighter in tone than those two. Could be considered a simultaneous band/professor AU, but the history of Blackwell is kept intact.

It is a love story.
Set in a dark fantasy world overrun by vampiric and afflicted creatures and monsters, some which started as mortal, and some only beasts. Only remnants of gods remain, creatures gifted with blood or shadow, blessed with sacred Godsblood. The corruption is growing within the great city (Empyrean). A beast roaming the overgrown woods. A shadow lurking in the lost ruin.
"Anastascia was found as a ward in the ruin of the wood, and returned to her place before the god, serving as a saint, a priestess, a hunter, meant to spare the Virtues of the lost and ruined beasts outside the city walls. Desperate in her love for her mentor, and sickened by the guilt of her blood, her horrific gift of shadow and blood and necromancy, she wishes only to serve and protect her people, even when they use her. A tithing of blood that leaves her on the edge of conciousness. Until the beast comes for her."
