Summary
That's the thing about being the Chosen One—"one" is right in the description. You only have to be the Chosen One until a new One comes along. Then you can retire, having earned your happy ending. Unless, of course, you die.
Craig did his time. He was the hero of another story, and now it's someone else's turn. No matter how much he can feel his tattoos burning. No matter how badly his eyes ache. No matter how every Peruvian flute band member makes direct eye contact with him when he passes them on the street or in the mall. Like they know what he is. Like they know what's coming.

Summary
Four years of college didn't get Kyle any closer to figuring out what he wants to do with his life, but his friend Jimmy pulls through for him with an opening in the newspaper office where he works. Newbies have never been known to get glamorous work, of course, and Kyle's first assignment proves it: a filler piece on a costumed vigilante calling himself "Mysterion." When a dangerous situation brings him face-to-face with the hero himself, however, Kyle—and the growing number of readers his articles on the friendly neighborhood superhero bring in—seeks the answer to a question that burns within him: Who is Mysterion?

Summary
The moon is out tonight. Hiding shyly behind her gentle veil of mist, peeking out at the world and it's secrets.
Craig takes another drag, exhaling into the starry darkness. There are many constellations tonight, each brilliant and blinding in the dark void of space. He knows them all, each like an old friend who's come to visit. He looks to the boy next to him. Kenny's staring up at the sky, but not really. His face is in the right direction, but his eyes are half lidded, dead. His lips are parted as he takes slow, deep breaths. Craig pretends that the bruises aren't there, pretends not to notice them shift in color each day.
He offers the cigarette and Kenny's head finally turns, cocking at the sight and reaching for it.
Their fingers brush in the exchange. Kenny's long, scarred ones meeting his warm, calloused ones.
For a second Craig doesn't want to pull back. But he does.
A playful grin appears on Kenny's face and Craig is left pissed—wondering why he feels so heavy.
Or: Craig finds himself reconnecting with Kenny McCormick in high school, bringing up feelings he's never acknowledged before. He learns quickly that Kenny isn't the person people usually paint him as.
