Quirrel finds the Archives and adapts to the new world with some help from the Teacher. As he grows up, a time limit approaches. Before he turns 18, he must decide whether he wants to live in this world of bugs and dreams, or go back, and learn to live as a human in a world that he was born into, but never quite fit in.
A Wayward Children interpretation of how Quirrel came to Hallownest, why he came back, and what happened at the blue lake.

They appointed Izuku Midoriya as their homeroom teacher, convinced that the now quirkless war hero is a relic of the past and exactly what the class needs to fail quietly. But the Symbol of Hope doesn't believe in lost causes. He sees the next generation of heroes. He's going to take this class of broken legacies, problem children, political pawns and scapegoats and former villains and vigilantes and teach the commission a painful lesson:

Summary
Becoming a vigilante was never supposed to be anything more than a way to train for becoming a hero. But now that he is here… he might as well help out as many people as he possible can. Sure, maybe he'll just get in the heroes' way and maybe he ended up helping a few criminals a long the way, but he wasn't going to give up!
Becoming a hero was what he lived for, after all. Without that… What was even the point? What was the point of anything?
It shouldn't be too hard. He just needed to cover himself up, not speak in case anyone recognised his voice, and avoid using his quirk when people could see it. That, at least, he could do. All he needed to do was lay low and avoid getting into unnecessary situations.
Easier said than done. He seemed to draw in unnecessary situations.
