Summary
“I can’t show you this,” She grumbles.
“But what if I want to see?” Kris returns. She can practically hear the frown that’s consuming their cheeks, and that’s enough to overwrite her hatred with enough guilt that she’s able to look up again.
“Promise you won’t laugh?”
Kris holds their hand out, leaving only their pinky finger open. Susie huffs, then places hers against theirs. They intertwine, and the promise is made.
And, surprisingly enough, it’s upheld as she spins around her canvas to reveal the object of her creation – the dumb, out of proportion painting of Kris that looks like it could be created by a child.
They stare it up and down, and the corners of their lips curl upwards into a smile as they reveal their own work.
And Susie isn’t sure what she’s expecting, but it most certainly isn’t a completely white canvas.
