But things were turning for the worse between the GiW and the teenagers, Tucker hissing out that he needed another minute or so. Danny couldn’t watch this go badly. They needed a distraction for time. And a distraction off of the teenagers blocking them from what they wanted. A distraction.
Danny drew in a breath. Knowing what was to come.
“Your name is Daniel Fenton, and tonight is the night you died. Again.”
Through force of habit and practice and unwillingness to ever be out in the open when he changed forms, Danny didn’t allow himself to pass out. But he did lay on the floor of the basement lab for a very long time. Staring at the swirl of the Realms through the stable portal.

Heather turned her head with everyone else to look at the doorway. A massive white bulk came in. Followed and filled out with a wall of white suits. She froze, tensing up and quickly glancing through all of them and across the kids in this room. Trying to figure out, fast, as to what the GiW were up to and going to do…and how the reactions might fall for everyone here.
Oh no. This wasn’t going to be good. Maybe they could politely peacekeep them to go away? To not have this go bad. To not have anyone get hurt.
“We’ve been instructed to confiscate anything with a moderate ecto-signature,” the apparent main GiW said. Another one checked his handheld device and pointed over where Dale and Dash sat at the line of computers. And the main operative stepped in their direction, reaching towards them.

Dash twisted his head around to see. And the slight frown between her eyebrows and scrunch of her little nose relaxed, a smile returning back to her face as she picked her way through the crowd. Ooh. He smiled, excited about her coming over and what it all might entail and lead up to.
“No one would think it weird you try to stave off the truth, or well, rumors.”
He froze, slowly turning his head back to the group. Paulina, Star, Whitney, Cloey, and Chelsey all shared giggles. And his gut clenched.
What?
Paulina continued.
“You know, if you were seen together with the girl version of your favorite hero. No one would think it weird at all.”
“She wouldn’t be a replacement for who you really want, now would she?” Star slid that last remark in.-
Dash is a HUGE fan of his favorite hero, but man, his tiiiny fudging of truth was biting him in the ass.

Green eyes flickering over her, his mouth parting and closing for unheard words, Phantom drifted closer and lifted his arm. Eyes frantic between her and his arm hovering as if to wrap around her back.
She sucked in, a wet sound, half sobbing, and flew into his arm and chest. Wanting and needing what he’d offered. His arm hovered for a bit. And then fully wrapped around her and drew her to him.
“He’s always needing love, but he doesn’t and can’t give it! It’s never enough. Nothing is enough. That’s not family. That’s not a good family. You’re good family. I know…” Her voice choked, breaking against his shoulder. “I know I’m not right. That I’m not… I’m different and off and not right. But I want to stay here. With you. Please.”-
Left wanting, it didn't take very long for her to see that the very ghost who Father meant her to be, was far more family to her than he.

Set up at the start with it being 'No one knows Danny Fenton is Danny Phantom'.

Summary
32 year old Doctor Daniel Fenton is a mechanic, technician, repair man for the Justice League. It may not be the astronaut job he dreamed of in his childhood, but he gets to work amongst the stars and do his part to support Earth's Mightiest Heroes who have saved the world time and time again.
However, after a trip to see his parents for the holiday goes awry and they kill him in their boarder-line supervillain scientist lab, Danny has to keep various ghostly changes under wraps. While stumbling his way through his relationship and now his new found powers, he's put under the heroes' scrutiny as they question how exactly Danny got himself into this mess. Leaked blueprints, super power training, and ghost lore abound, Danny's main goal is just to keep his amazing job and not get fired.
He maybe, even, kind of, sorta, saves the world? But he's just a mechanic and his only job is to help the heroes who do all the world saving and he is not one of those heroes.
