Sky wrinkled his nose. He’d probably get fired for fraud when they forced him to take bereavement leave for a husband that didn’t exist. “Option number two?”
“Tell the truth, say you made it up,” Rain said, holding up a second finger. “It would involve a level of humility you’ve never once shown and will definitely negatively impact your career because everyone will think you are insane and they will absolutely remember it forever.”
“Absolutely not. Option number three?”
“You bring a fake husband to the ceremony,” Rain held up a third finger.
“Is there no option number four?”
“Nope.”
“How am I going to find a fake husband by next week?”
“Grindr?”
“My life is over,” Sky said, dropping his forehead back down onto the table.

Sky was pretty sure the idiot who was following him thought he was being stealthy. He was doing that walking on the balls of his feet sort of step, as if his footsteps could even be heard over the noise and crowds from the races anyway. His flashy red and white racing jacket was loud enough to scream though. Sky would have to be stupid and mostly blind to miss that this man was following him.

Sky had hung up as soon as the robot woman had finished telling him that the person he was calling wasn’t answering his phone and that it was likely because he was fed up of Sky’s attitude, his disinterest, his inability to reciprocate the feelings that Pai expressed so shamelessly, fearlessly.
Okay, maybe the robot woman hadn’t said all that, but Sky was good at reading between the lines, especially the non-existent ones. Prapai had gotten bored of him.
It was the only explanation that made sense.
Prapai goes radio silent on Sky for a day. Sky panics, revelations and shenanigans ensue.

“Because I don’t know what I did to deserve this.”
Phayu felt something twist in his heart. He tightened his arm around Prapai, pressing a kiss to his temple. “You don’t have to earn love, Pai.”

The most beautiful man he’d ever seen was glaring at him. Prapai was used to being glared at, so normally this wouldn’t phase him, in another context he might even use the opportunity for some harmless flirting. But today, after the exhausting and stressful day he'd had, and the way the man was looking at him, all judgy and annoyed, it only made Prapai more flustered.
“First time?” The beautiful man asked, looking down at the messy pile Prapai had just dumped in his window but he made no move to help.
“Excuse me?”
“At a bank?”

The new Black started opening up. The new Black joked with Yok and listened to Gumpa’s advice. The new Black shared rooms with Sean. He couldn’t understand it. He was growing closer to everyone around him, but drifting away from Gram.
So when Black came over to study, Gram couldn't help but purposefully take off his shirt, stretching his lean body over his bed, angling his hips so that the light hit his happy trail, even when he knew about Eugene. But Black’s eyes didn’t drift; they were unwavering. And instead he brought up Sean, Sean, Sean, and it felt like Gram had already lost him. And when he told him he was going to meet Sean, Gram let him. He let him although he had never come and not stayed the night. He let him although it felt like every part of him was slipping through his fingers.
Or: Gram before, during and after losing his best friend, and then a piece of himself along the way.
