When Jonny finds out one of his lovers survived, he is desperate to make sure Tim never finds the link, so that the other can’t become mad at him or blame him. But it is pretty hard to hide such things and Tim never blamed Jonny for a moment.

There was always a time when supplies ran low or panels got dented beyond repair or somebody shot a hole through one of the fuel tanks. In those times, Nastya would sigh, put up a “0” on the “- Days Since Tomfoolery” sign, and go talk to Brian about the nearest suitable place to land.
That sign hadn’t gotten above a “10” for as long as Nastya could remember. At least it saved on the amount of number signs that had to be made.
Beyond the desert haze, a few minutes walk away from the landing site, was a town. Low-slung houses clustered around a marginally taller city center, though none of the buildings were particularly large or impressive even there. However, there was a large radio tower stuck smack-dab in the middle of town, and another on the far side of the settlement. Neither had any signs of disuse, and Nastya wondered at the necessity of having two separate towers for such a small community.
Maybe there were a lot of radio enthusiasts about.

Tim had decided, the first time he’d seen Jon pull a lockpick set out of his pocket and pick a lock in less than a minute, that he did, in fact, have a bit of a predilection toward delinquency. Particularly when said delinquent dressed like a college professor and used words like ‘ostentatious’ and ‘salient.’
The being a little bit in love with him bit had come later. But it wasn’t like Tim hadn’t seen it coming.

It's not all bad, though: while he is a wanted murderer on the run from the cops, Leitner was apparently so universally despised that Institute employees and Avatars alike are tripping over themselves to help him out. Now, he just has to figure out how to clear his name (though that's easier said than done).

He wished he lived in a world in which he’d met Jon first instead of Jonny. Where there was nothing lingering in the shadows of their pasts reminding them that there would always be something missing, even if they both chose to believe otherwise.
A world in which he wouldn’t need to choose between reality and ghosts.
.If the universe were kind, Martin's soulmate timer would have stopped the first time he touched Jonathan Sims, those ever-changing numbers fading into pale remnants on his skin, the search finally over.
But his timer was already long dead, lost to a man whose skin had been smudged with lightning bolts and the silver glow of starlight.

Mechs! Jon, missed connection Soulmates, unknowingly pining for the man you're already dating.
