Summary
The Scholomance, a death trap of a school that exists outside reality. Four hellish years of dodging sudden death, a necessary evil because the other option, not attending, is even more likely to end in death. Such is the maths wizard children must make. Of course, not all students are created equal and some got to grow up in the relative safety of hidden, protected enclaves while others lived out in the open, scraping by.
Not that Inej particularly cares about the geopolitics of it all, she just wants to understand what's going on. Jesper wants to find an alliance. Wylan wants to prove himself. Nina wants to gain new recruits to the Os Alta enclave. Matthias wants to do his duty. And Kaz wants to tear down the Ketterdam enclave brick by brick.
(You do not need to have read the Scholomance Trilogy to read this although I highly recommend it. If you like SoC, you'll probably like a Deadly Education.)
