Will lets out a scoff at that. Friends? No thanks. Best friends. Of course. He feels the anger slowly rolling out of him, replaced by a deep exhaustion as he lowers his hand and looks away, staring at the suddenly very interesting crack on the floor instead. “No… no, you're right,” he sighs, letting out a tired laugh. “It's only natural for you to care about your best friend.”
With the way Will has said ‘best friend’ —like that exact word was an insult instead of a simple phrase that it is— results in Mike’s face twisting into something that looks almost offended. “What do you mean by that?”
“I don't know,” Will shrugs weakly, hands coming and crossing right in front of his chest. Acting like a barrier between him and Mike. “I don't know, Mike.”
