Harriet Potter has always been odd. Between having a shadow that moves on its own and chatting with grass snakes, learning she's a witch really isn't the strangest thing to happen to the bespectacled girl with a lightning scar on her neck.
Harriet attends Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where she makes new friends, encounters a prickly Potions Master, learns about the Boy Who Lived, and meets the enigmatic Defense Against the Dark Arts instructor, Professor Tom Slytherin.

Summary
Hogwarts' newest Professor is in a bit of a pickle. Hot on the heels of one of the country's most dangerous magical creatures, she's only gone and found herself transported to another world mid-chase. A world that is flat and disc-shaped, where magic doesn't work quite as it's supposed to, and where the local Librarian has a distinct taste for bananas. It's unfortunate, too, that this new world is also home to the last person she wants to see.
Oh, and there's still the matter of that creature to deal with.
Bugger.

Summary
Coming of Age in the House of Black is a story of turning points in the lives of the last generation of Blacks: Bellatrix, Andromeda, Narcissa, Sirius, and Regulus. It takes place over the course of Bellatrix's life, prior to the events of canon, and focuses on the five cousins, but is told from multiple perspectives, including Cygnus and Druella, Arcturus, Walburga, and all five of the main characters.
Mary Potter AU magic and history applies; the Black Family tree as outlined by JKR outside of the books, and any birth-dates she has given for any of the characters do not.
This is a long, drawn-out tragedy, heavy on suffering and angst, in case the tags were unclear.
