“I’m busy,” Ersa declared – entirely too loudly, given that Avad was directly beneath her, and the rest of the room was, by the King’s very design, extremely empty.
Avad said nothing, but his last valiant efforts at stoicism faded into a broad, facetious grin. A quick sparring session, he’d promised. I don’t want to get rusty, he’d said. Ersa had stupidly agreed, right up until her King – her friend – (fire and spit, her fucking employer) - had thrown the fight in the most obvious, dastardly way.
