“Haha dude, there's no way you're actually affected by this heat," Regect giggled to himself. "That sounds like a massive skill issue." Regect turned his head back to his beloved map, burying his face in it once more. Ze glanced at Moe, who was still happily skipping over the sand, honking a quiet tune to herself. Ze looked straight ahead, wheezing now. His feet felt heavier than they did before, and his brain felt like it was being flushed down the toilet. It was a weird analogy, but it was the closest thing Ze could think of at the moment.
Ze was getting dizzier now, his head was spinning and the world around him seemed to tilt.

Summary
He was seventeen again. He didn’t want to be. He hated this time of his life. Yet there he was back in boot camp, listening to the drill sergeant yell instructions as aggressively as possible, the usual. Z felt terribly out of place, forced up to Georgia for the infantry portion of training. Z felt uneasy watching how the other men cheered and riled each other up. Something felt wrong, this wasn’t ever mentioned in the pamphlets and ceremonies. Despite his concern, he knew better than to question the sergeant. That never ended well.
Behind him a gunshot exploded, and an unexpected man’s voice screamed out in pain. As Z swung back around, he heard a heavy thud and saw a fellow trainee on the ground clutching his neck. Z’s breath catches in his throat watching blood spurt and pool from the wound on the man’s neck.

Z has a nightmare where he’s 17 again in boot camp, young and weak. After a series of misunderstandings Z finds himself running for his life, dodging violent men and clinging to his gun. Blood fills his mind.

"Get away from me. I SAID GET AWAY!" Ze shouted, his voice strained. His wings were trembling like a leaf in a breeze, his hands balled into tight fists that were certainly digging into his skin.
"Dude, stop! You're okay man, it's just me!" Regect tried to reason with him, gently placing a clawed hand on his shoulder. That seemed to startle Ze awake.
"What? I.." Ze looked around his messy, trashed bedroom. "But, but I swore I was-"
Back in the Hole? Yeah, like it'd want to know that. Are you going this insane to think he cares? It only woke you up so you'd stop screeching like an ugly banshee.
"...Nevermind." Ze brushed off the entity, pushing him away once more. "Get out of my room, Regect."
