Summary
In which Wriothesley, owner of a wildlife rescue and sanctuary, rescues a weird-looking not-gopher in a pool, which leads him down a strange mystery involving a government conspiracy, an illegal smuggling ring, and a Iudex that has disappeared from the office, sending Fontaine in a frenzy. Little does he know, the missing Iudex Neuvillette is a lot closer to him than he realizes.
(All he has to do is look closer at the fluffy otter creature currently curled against his chest, shamelessly using his pecs as his pillow.)

It takes a village to raise a child as the saying goes. Apparently, it similarly takes a village to get one angry blue-striped not-gopher out of its cage because it is not leaving the enclosed space without a fight. It hissed, growled, clawed, thrashed and bit a lot of people, probably traumatizing the new employee too, but after twenty-five stressful minutes, the team managed to get it out and secured on the examination table, bundled in several thick blankets to make the world’s angriest burrito.

“It feels weird to have the Iudex and Fontaine’s god relegated to a random pillow,” Wriothesley protests as he’s lowered onto his mattress. “You’re a guest and that’s no way to treat a guest.”“If it makes you feel better, I’m technically a trespasser, so please do not feel like you have to accommodate my stay..."

Ajax rubs his chin. “Okay, well, you get chosen to be a priest when the god you serve takes a shine to you because of the affection they feel towards you and because you make tasty offerings.”“I...wait, tasty offerings as in I cook well?”
“It could be, but it could also mean that you provide certain services for him that he particularly enjoys. Gods draw their powers from how sincere their worshipers are when providing them with gifts and services. It can be something like cooking for him, or it can be uh, something that’s more intimate. Gods get a bit grumpy if you stop your offerings, so that’s a good way to determine which action counts as those.”
The first thing that comes to mind is Neuvillette’s love for nuzzling against his chest, and that he’d get grouchy if he gets interrupted. Surely…that couldn’t possibly be it, could it?
...
They part ways. Neuvillete and Wriothesley find a nice sunny patch of grass to set up their picnic. As they lay on the blanket, Neuvillette automatically shifts his body to—predictably—rest his face against his pecs. He even sighs a little, sounding perfectly content. If he were in his otter form, he’d be wagging his tail slowly, utterly and completely satisfied.Wriothesley is sure of it. After all, he’s seen it happen in person on multiple occasions.
Well, even if his tits really are offerings (that Neuvillette apparently enjoy enough to make him his priest), Wriothesley isn’t complaining.
