Red Hood’s modulated voice is bone-chilling. Nearly every sleaze-bag in Crime Alley had become accustomed to the gravely robotic nature of it. The unnatural shifts in his words and the variations in pitch being just ever so slightly off putting. Borderline uncanny, yet everyone who’s heard it knows there’s a human behind that voice. A man who choses to blow a hole through someone’s skull without so much of an afterthought.
Though, no one had ever heard that voice scream.
Not until tonight.
Or, Red Hood is captured, Nightwing saves him and while helping him afterwards, puts the wrong puzzle pieces together and confronts him which does not go quite how he planned.

Summary
Two cliché rocker boys (the kind nobody expects anything from) are quietly holding their lives together with cheap guitar strings and band rehearsals, until He Xuan blows the whole thing up by sleeping with the campus golden boy, Shi Qingxuan, in his overprotective brother's car. What follows is a chain reaction: new relationships, a last-minute Halloween gig saved by the world's most complicated drummer, and Hua Cheng (who thought he had the whole detached, unbothered thing down to an art) falling completely apart over Xie Lian, a soft-spoken piano player with a ridiculous, ugly, wonderful laugh who somehow makes neglect and loneliness feel a little less permanent.
A story about boys who built their whole identity around not needing anyone, and the embarrassingly inevitable moment they realize they do.
