“Grace can feel song, question?” Rocky asked, slower than usual. The cooing had lulled him, too.
“I… Maybe? Yeah,” Grace whispered, and Rocky had to focus to understand the slurring.
“Humans can feel sound, question?”
Grace huffed a small laugh. “Sometimes, yeah. For example, when the sound is… very low and loud, we can feel it in our chests.”
“Song is neither low nor loud.” That would have an entirely different effect.
“I know. I can still feel it, I think. It’s strange.”
“Good strange, question?”
“Good strange, yeah.”
Grace could feel sound. Grace could feel Rocky’s songs.
Hmm.
Rocky discovers nature's laws aren't as inflexible as they'd thought. He puts this to good use.

Summary
The last leg of their journey to Erid is filled with despair; Grace's health deteriorates and Rocky' own trauma flares up drastically. Prolonged space travel with only an alien for company changes a person, maybe even beyond recognition. The one returning home might not be the one you knew before it all began. How do you bring someone home who got lost among the stars?
Stories about love, desperation, codependency, trauma and hope. About people you'd die for. And people you'd live for. And most of all, about people you love to the point of invention.

“What made you come up with this?” Grace asks. His voice is thick.
“Grace need comfort,” Rocky says matter-of-factly. “Like a hug. This comfort Grace, question?”
Grace presses his hand more firmly against the top of Rocky’s carapace, and Rocky shifts a bit within the xenonite, rising so that they make nearly direct contact through the panel. It’s not like they haven’t done something like this before—Rocky is always pressing his claws up against Grace’s palm—but it’s different for Grace’s whole hand to be so close, to feel the heat of a living thing against his side and against his palm all at once.
“Yeah,” Grace breathes.
